What many don’t know about me is … I am a huge NFL football fan! Don’t judge me … there is actually a spiritual component to football, so read on.
I grew up with football in my family … my Dad was a college running back and high school coach, and my Aunt was the executive assistant for William Clay Ford who owned the Detroit Lions and was the Chairman of the Board for Ford Motor Company. We went to the Lions Thanksgiving Day game every year.
In the early years, we would be shivering at the old Detroit Tiger Stadium which was outdoors, and many times it was snowy and in the teens, or near zero degrees. We would drink hot chocolate and love rooting for the Lions. If you know anything about football, the Lions have not won a NFC Championship since 1957 (ugh!), so you really do need to be a fan to keep rooting for them.
I have loved this football season … all of the teams kept going, even when it seemed dim at times to get their spots in the playoffs. In fact, some of the teams that made it to the playoffs were definitely the underdogs. And, the amazing thing was, in the first round of the playoffs, 3 out of the 4 teams that won were underdog teams.
Not only did they win, but all of the games were won in the last few seconds. The teams persevered … they never gave up. It was one of the most exciting series of playoff games ever played.
As I watched the games, and yes, I really watched them rather than multi-tasked, I marveled at how each team continued to support the players within their team. They cheered each other on, ‘high fived’ as they made plays, lifted up a person who made an error, and most of all they kept going. They worked together as a team … there was no player more important than another, because all roles had to be fulfilled in order for the team to succeed.
There were a couple of games in which the underdogs were behind and came back with such focus and determination … they wanted the win! They did not stop, they kept going. Some would say, they wanted it more than the other team. They did not stop 5 seconds before the miracle!
And, when they won, they were Truly grateful … many thanked God first, and then their teammates, coaches, and owners. And, they celebrated – they jumped with joy as they laughed and cried, and they danced in their victory! As they did that, some even went to the other team’s players who had lost and consoled them … they tried to lift them up in their despair.
Now, still being a Detroit Lions fan, I am thrilled on this Super Bowl Sunday to see Matt Stafford, quarterback of the LA Rams, lead them into the game. Matt was at Detroit for 12 years and played in only two first-round championship games and never won. Many blamed him, but remember football (just like life) is a team sport. And, he never gave up.
Matt was traded to the Rams a year from the day that he and his new team won the NFC Championship. He is tenacious and keeps focusing on what he wants. He never quit believing in himself, although at times I am sure he has doubted and wavered as we all do, especially with a lot of naysayers who criticized him. He also has a coach, a team, a family, and fans who really believe in him. My hope is that he plays one of his best games ever and receives the ultimate goal that football players want … a Super Bowl win and maybe be named MVP (Most Valuable Player).
So, why have I written about this? Well, football is very much like life. There is a ‘game’ plan that is created for each game … just like for each chapter and aspect of your life. It requires focus, dedication, and even discipline to fulfill your intentions, plan, and purpose. It requires determination and resiliency to pick your Self up and keep going for your dreams, even when you feel down or don’t see the possibilities. Any circumstance or condition is transitory … you are the one who can make a Conscious Choice to change what is going on in your life (and business).
You have coaches … foremost (though many forget to call them in) … the Universe (God, Higher Power, Divine Source), your SOUL, your Spirit Guides, and Angels. Plus, anyone you utilize to coach you through life and/or help you with your business and what you are here to do.
You have a team … other players who you can co-create and collaborate with … you did not come here to do things alone. Life is a team sport. You have your genius zone and what you are excel in, as other have theirs.
If you are the quarterback, you need an offensive line to protect you, running backs to run the ball and wide receivers to catch the ball, so the team can move the ball down the field and into the end zone for a touchdown. You can’t, nor is it in your best interest, to try to do everything your Self. This helps you to focus and evolve into your more, rather be scattered, and not build upon your strengths. Do what you do best and allow people to do theirs, which can help you AND others, so ALL can contribute to the sum of the whole.
And, your Chakras and Energy Bodies … Physical, Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual are a part of your team too. Taking care of and listening to them is important, so you can be strong, centered, and balanced to play an optimal game of living life to its fullest in healthy and vibrant ways.
You have fans … your family (if not your biological family, your SOUL family or the one you create), your friends, and your colleagues. If someone is not cheering you on, then it’s time to move on. Even when you are down, or you made a ‘mistake’, you want people around you that lift you up rather than tear you down.
Plus, your etheric coaches … the Universe, your Guides, Angels, Ascended Masters, etc., are definitely part of your fan club! Remember, all you have to do is ask for help … they do need you to invite them in and they will gladly assist you! Again, you are not here to do it alone.
So, now you can see how football is Truly a spiritual sport … it gives you the relevant metaphors of how you can win in your own life and business.
Most of all, never give up and especially DO NOT stop 5 seconds before your miracle! It’s ALL there for you … just ask and believe!
To Your Amazing Success!
